Eastwood excites after making Tigers debut

Max Eastwood, emerging from Worksop Town Football Club's youth development programme, has ignited a wave of excitement among Tigers fans in recent weeks. They're left pondering just how far his talents can take him and the club forward this season.
During the preseason fixtures, Eastwood's name has shot to prominence thanks to his spirited performances. Notably, he bagged braces in matches against Retford FC and a Doncaster Rovers XI, quickly cementing his reputation.
This dynamic winger, often compared to Jack Grealish, has impressed to such an extent during preseason that Tigers' manager, Craig Parry, included him in the 16-man squad for the season opener against FC United of Manchester in the Pitching-In Northern Premier League Premier Division, although he remained an unused substitute. Nevertheless, Eastwood achieved a significant milestone by making his debut in the following fixture, a 3-0 victory over Marske United —an impressive feat for a young player at this level of non-league football.
Post-debut, Eastwood was bubbling with enthusiasm. "I was buzzing! I can't wipe this smile off my face. Playing in a league game has been my dream since childhood, and it was absolutely brilliant," he exclaimed. Eastwood's journey to this point has been remarkable, given his release by Rotherham United. He had to carve his path back into football. He credits Worksop Town Football Club for providing him with a second chance and demonstrating to him and other young talents in the area that there's life after youth academies in football.
Reflecting on his football journey to date, Eastwood explained, "I was with Rotherham United from the Under-9s to the Under-16s, but I didn't secure a scholarship. After my release, I had to take matters into my own hands. I reached out to Matt Higgins, Worksop Town’s Head of Recruitment Reserve Team Manager, Iain Newton who welcomed me with open arms.”
Matt, in particular, played a pivotal role in introducing Eastwood to the club and making him feel like part of the family. Eastwood went on to lavish praise on the support he received from both the coaching staff and his new team mates.
Looking ahead, Eastwood is determined to make his mark in the first team. Despite his youth, he displays maturity in his gameplay, and his exciting style of play is sure to keep Tigers fans enthralled this coming season. While expectations are high, patience is key in nurturing Eastwood's potential.
With the guidance of the Tigers' management team and the Reserves programme, which is already producing promising talents, Eastwood is on a promising trajectory towards becoming a regular figure in the squad in the years ahead.
