Join Us for a Summer Extravaganza at Worksop College!

Get ready for one of the most exciting events in Bassetlaw this summer! On Saturday 13th July, Worksop Town Academy will be hosting a spectacular event at Worksop College (S80 3AP), designed to ignite a passion for sports, arts, and various activities among the young people in our community. This pioneering event is set to be the first of its kind in our area…so spread the word, no booking is required!

Our Mission

The primary goal of this event is to promote and develop a passion for sports, arts, and activities among the youth of Bassetlaw. We aim to provide an accessible platform where young people can discover new interests that they might not usually encounter. From traditional sports to lesser-known activities, there is something for everyone.

"At the heart of this event is our commitment to ensuring that every child, regardless of age or physical/learning abilities, has the opportunity to try something new. Who knows, they might even uncover a hidden talent!" says Laurie Griffin, Academy Director.

Inclusive and Engaging Activities

This event is designed to be inclusive, welcoming children of all ages and abilities. It’s not just about physical activities; we’re incorporating a variety of arts and engaging experiences to cater to a wide range of interests. Whether it’s trying out a new sport, participating in creative arts, or engaging in a fun community activity, there's something for everyone to enjoy.

"We are dedicated to creating a sense of community cohesion, fun, and engagement," Laurie Griffin explains. "This event is more than just an opportunity to try new activities; it’s about bringing our community together and celebrating our collective spirit."

Reviving Lesser-Known Activities

One of the unique aspects of this event is our focus on promoting lesser-known activities that are at risk of fading from our community. By shining a spotlight on these activities, we hope to revitalise interest and ensure their continued presence in Bassetlaw.

"We believe in the importance of preserving the rich diversity of activities within our community. This event offers a platform for these lesser-known activities to gain the recognition and participation they deserve," adds Laurie Griffin.

In addition to the array of activities, the event will feature food and drinks vans, music from a DJ, and other entertainment to ensure a fun-filled day for all attendees. It’s a perfect opportunity for families to spend quality time together and enjoy the vibrant atmosphere.

"We want to create an unforgettable experience for everyone who attends. With great food, fantastic music, and engaging entertainment, there’s no better way to spend a summer day," says Laurie Griffin.
