Supporting Mental Health: How Talkzone Helped Our Post-16 Scholars Manage Stress
Mental health is an important topic for young people, especially as they face the pressures of school, work, and life. That’s why we were excited to partner with Talkzone, a local mental health organization, to offer our post-16 scholars some helpful advice on managing stress. After an initial workshop on mental health, Talkzone returned to lead another session focused on managing stress—giving students practical tips they can use in their daily lives.
This workshop was aimed at our post-16 scholars, young people who are balancing their studies, part-time jobs, and planning for their futures. Talkzone’s team of experts worked directly with them to show how they could manage stress and take care of their mental well-being.
The workshop was packed with useful, hands-on tips for managing stress. Talkzone taught the students how stress affects the mind and body, and shared simple techniques to cope with it—like deep breathing exercises, setting small goals, and managing time better. The students walked away feeling more confident and better prepared to handle the challenges ahead.
Kim, a Talkzone facilitator, shared her thoughts after the session:
"Thank you for inviting us to your football academy. We had a fantastic time, and we hope we made a positive difference.”
Max, 2nd year Scholar, said the following:
"Was a really enjoyable morning, It really helped me know what to do at times when I feel stressed."
This partnership with Talkzone is just the beginning. We want to keep offering these types of workshops to our students, helping them manage stress and build stronger mental health skills. Moving forward, we’re looking at offering more workshops on topics like exam stress, dealing with anxiety, and building resilience. Our goal is to continue providing students with the resources they need to thrive—not just in school, but in life.
